OK so I know somehow you need to log in and out but how does this work? I have tried a few times, cutting a gem logging out then back in but it doesn't seem to do anything. And the gemcutter is still acting like I have never visited him before... I have already paid him twice and he still has an exclamation mark above his head as if I never got the quest...
I am looking for step by step instructions 'cus I am completely frustrated trying to figure this out. I don't want to waste all my gems with trial and error.
Thanks in advance! Alan

you need the kits and the gems you want to cut in your inventory. then log out and back in, cut the gem. it should count. then repeat as needed.

also loading into new zones makes it count.

OK As it turns out I couldn't even get the actual quest in the first place, I got the "gem book" but no quest, a GM hooked it up with the quest and I couldn't believe I only needed to make 3 gems LOL I have made 40-50 already.
Now for the next question.... How do I (or weaponsmith) get the gems into a slotted item?
